No-No-No-No-No Hittah!!!!!!!

Unbelievable. Rookie Clay Buchholz, Red Sox pitcher, 23 years old, just threw a no-hitter in only his second major league start. He's just the second pitcher to do it in his second start since 1900. First rookie to ever do it in a Red Sox uniform. Un-friggin' believable.

To put it in perspective, here are a few great pitchers who have never thrown a no-hitter:

Roger Clemens
Pedro Martinez
Mike Mussina
Curt Schilling
Josh Beckett
Greg Maddux
John Smoltz
Steve Carlton
Tom Glavine
Whitey Ford

Together, those guys have probably pitched in over 5000 games. Clay Buchholz has pitched in exactly two games, and he's thrown one. This is why I love baseball.

I've got goose bumps.

wow. at least that's a good sports shocker of the day....maybe people will focus on that and ignore that debacle in AnnArbor...I know I'm trying to.

That was an amazing upset and I'm a bit conflicted about it. As a Wolverine fan myself, I think it really sucks that they lost and their season can be deemed a failure after only one game. On the other hand, I really love the underdog. It's a long season, maybe they'll turn it around.

it is impossible to turn it around. this was supposed to be "the year" - Mike Hart, Chad Henne, and Mario Manningham's last hurrah as seniors....probably Lloyd Carr's last as a Michigan coach, a chance to complete last years almost undefeated season and rise to the BCS Championship game. Even if they are 10-1 when the season ends, no one will forget they lost to a Div. 1-AA school.

Oh, and also, if they lost to a Div. 1-AA school...good luck with this schedule the rest of the season...because with Oregon, Notre Dame, and Penn St. on deck, you could find yourselves 0-4 rollign into Northwestern at the end of the month.

Right now - the only game that matters is NOv. 17....until then, its just shuffling along in the cloud of disappointment.

If any team deserves this guy it's the Sox. Woo! I love rookies!
